 Friday, June 26, 1998: Read an account of the ride...

 
 

Here we are headed south on Harbor Drive, returning from the airport. The squarerigger ship visible at the lower right is the famous Star of India.
 

This is after our fateful turn up Grape Street, and shortly before our final destruction. The impenetrable phalanx of Caltrans's I-5
freeway, feared and loathed by all cyclists, lies, unbeknownst to me, a litttle to our south.
 

Friday, May 29, 1998: Read an account of the ride...


Here we are at our staging area at the roundabout on Prospect near Torrey Pines Road
 
 
 

An attempt at an "action shot" by cameraman yours truly. This rider bears a sign reading "Bikes are cool -- Down with fossil fuel!" Before you complain about the poor quality of the photo, anyone else wanna volunteer to be "ride photographer"?
 


The cop who spoiled the fun by insisting we ride single file. At least he was good-natured enough to pose for a picture.
 
 
 
 

The May '98 ride ends in a somewhat somber mood here outside the gas station at the southeast corner of Garnet and E. Mission Bay Drive.
